Herbert Hainer re-elected as FC Bayern president

Herbert Hainer has been re-elected as president of FC Bayern by members at the club’s 2025 annual general meeting. Professor Dr Dieter Mayer as senior vice-president and Walter Mennekes as deputy vice-president were also re-elected at the meeting in Munich's BMW Park. The overwhelming majority of members present (95.63%) voted in favour of another term for Hainer, who succeeded current honorary president Uli Hoeneß at the AGM in December 2019.

“It’s a great honour”

The theme of the event, 125 years of FC Bayern, “shows us that we know where we come from, who we are, and where we want to go,” Hainer told members before the vote. “A lot has changed over the decades, but one thing has always remained the same: we don't focus on the competition, we focus on ourselves. What FC Bayern does today is its benchmark for tomorrow. And you, dear members, you hold it all together.” Hainer first thanked the advisory board for his re-nomination, then those present for their vote of approval: “This office fills me with great humility, and it is a great honour for me to continue to be president of this unique club.”

Hainer, 71, has been a member of the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG since 2002, which he has now headed as president for six years. Mayer and Mennekes have been supporting the club as vice-presidents since 2014 and 2016 respectively, and Mayer also sits on the supervisory board. During Hainer's tenure, the club has won six Bundesliga titles, two DFB Cups, four DFL Supercups and in the historic sextuple year of 2020 also the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in men's football. The women's footballers and FC Bayern basketball players have also secured multiple league titles and other silverware.
